The LPPO Association has four roads that it maintains. The primary access is via Lake Purgatory Drive from US 550, 2/10 of a mile north of mile post 48. The subdivision is east of US 550, a little more than a mile from the highway turnoff. See thelocation for more details.
The LPPO Association's maintenance of Lake Purgatory Drive begins at the entrance to Lake Purgatory Unit I subdivision. The lower part of the road is maintained by a separate association - Lake Purgatory Drive Road Association. LPPO also pays a percentage of the maintenance of the lower part of Lake Purgatory Drive - from the highway to the entrance our subdivision (Lake Purgatory Unit I) since we all use that part of the road to get to our properties.)
All roads are well maintained dirt roads.
The speed limit in the neighborhood is 15mph. The roads are narrow and curvy. Please respect your neighbors and keep your speed down.
We get alot of snow up at 9,000 feet! Our dirt roads are steep and curvy, while they are plowed in the winter, they still get ice packed and slippery.
Four wheel drive vehicles with snow tires or chains are necessary in winter. Owners who rent their property must make their renters aware of this rule and all other association rules.
No snowmobiles, ATVs, or other off-highway vehicles are permitted on our roads. Sledding on the roads is dangerous for the sledder and any drivers on the road. For the safety of everyone, please no sledding on the roads.
The Lake
Many people interested in our neighborhood ask about lake usage. The LPPO Association boundaries do not include the lake. This means the HOA has no jurisdiction over the lake itself, which is privately owned.
Requests for information on lake usage can be directed to the property owners. Please contact Marcia Stahovich at lakpurglod@aol.com.
